What wireless headphone system for a gym?
What wireless headphone system for a gym?

The massive growth in gym memberships and popularity of fitness classes can cause an unanticipated problem - noise pollution! Whether it's different classes interfering with each other, nearby builders or sensitive neighbours, there are all sorts of things personal trainers need to contend with.

Adam got in touch to explain his situation. His Gym hosts multiple classes simultaneously, and despite attempting to adhere to strict times and agreed volume levels, it's not so easy in reality. The end result is classes get louder and louder as they get psyched up, can over run and the noise can interfere and distract other classes within the gym.

Adam had an idea of using wireless headphones to stop his group being disturbed by other classes, with the added bonus of offering a unique and attention grabbing fitness experience.

The classes currently use a traditional stereo system (ghetto blaster), and the instructors stop or turn down the music to speak to the class. Adam wanted to know what he would need to buy to replicate this experience but through wireless headphones.

The system we suggested was:

20 x Joe Silent Disco headphones

1 x Donkey Silent Disco Transmitter

1 x 5 Channel Mixer

1 x QTX Wireless Mic System

With this set up, Adam would be able to play music from his existing source (iPod, phone or laptop). This would be connected to the mixer, to give full control of the volume and eq. The wireless microphone system would also be connected to the mixer, enabling Adam to talk to the class whilst walking around. The comfortable neckband means hands are free to teach the class and use the equipment, and no wires to trip over. The system even comes with a second wireless microphone so 2 people could lead a class at once if needed.

In future this system could be expanded either by adding more headphones, or replicated with a second transmitter, mixer and mic system. This would mean 2 or more different classes could take place at the same time, also using wireless headphones. Users simply choose the correct "channel" for the class they're participating in.

We stock all these products, and the wireless microphones have been tested and proven to work without interference, alongside the Over Ear wireless system.
